yes hello I'm obsessed with Timothy Heller's new song "Not Even For You"

October 28, 2019

You may not be immediately familiar with the name Timothy Heller (she/her), but you should. Called “a tremendously emotive singer-songwriter with the uncanny ability to evoke nuanced, intimate emotions through vulnerable lyrics and breathtaking vocals” by Atwood Magazine, Timothy has slowly been releasing new music over the last couple of years, all leading to this very point.

First came “Sleep,” a soft and subtle bedroom pop jam about cheating. Then Timothy unleashed “See Ya,” a sharp-as-hell reclamation of her individuality after some of the most difficult years in her life. And today, she continues with “Not Even For You,” currently premiering via NYLON Magazine.

“I wrote this song at the darkest point of my life. It’s also the song I'm most proud of,” Timothy explains. “I don’t think I could have been more honest about how I felt at the time. It’s about how mental illness affects relationships and the hopelessness I was feeling around that.”

Each track released so far will be available on Timothy’s highly-anticipated EP, self-titled, out November 7. In addition, the EP will also feature three new songs that round out the story Timothy has been trying to tell all this time.

Timothy Heller is a singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles. Formerly a member of indie-pop duo Dresses, Timothy has since branched out to form her solo career. She’s been featured in the likes of Teen Vogue, and has performed alongside Kate Nash, Sir Sly, Phoenix, and Au Revoir Simone.
