Lilith is ready to take the world by storm, conquering faulty lovers, moments of weakness, and now with new single “Vacation," self-centered friendships that leave you feeling worn and weathered. It’s the opening track of their new LP, Safer Off, out August 9, and with a one-finger, one-string guitar solo performed by the wonderful Bradford Krieger of Allston's Big Nice Studio, there’s a blooming energy that reinforces the playful realization that streams through the entire work.

There’s a spacey twinkle in Lilith’s sonic presence on the song that combines with vocalist Hanna Liuzzo’s knack for charming emotive delivery that lets the track behave as if it was a life-lesson being told to you by an older sister—one who knows exactly what she’s talking about, and isn’t going to let you off the hook until you pay attention. With a bit of snark, she purports “you recoil / my patience boils / your charm is gone / and THAT’S IT!”— a succinct, clear message that needs no further explanation as the tune plays out with what Flood Magazine dubs the groups “recent flirtation with synths.”

Safer Off is a work about standing strong, knowing your worth, and coming out on top of everyone who worked their hardest to keep you down. The group, who formed from long-lasting friendships made at band camp, have a talent for masquerading self-expression in bright pastels and poppy riffs, but at their core they have a message to deliver that is as urgent as the energetic way they play:

“Strength isn’t quietly enduring abuse, instead it’s knowing what you deserve and advocating for it."
