Roger Harvey + Anika Pyle = 😍😍😍😍

January 15, 2020

Christmas Eve, 2018. That’s when Roger Harvey’s latest track, “You & I,” first came to life, although it wasn’t quite a song yet. It was gifted to his partner and fellow musician Anika Pyle in the form of a letter, and throughout the year since, blossomed into one of his most impressive tracks yet. The delicate production combined with Anika’s guest vocals just serves to further amplify the deeply personal nature of the song that Roger calls an “open letter to the person I love the most.”

“I wrote You & I for Anika. When I asked her what she wanted for the holidays last year, she said ‘I just want you to write me a letter like you used to,’” Roger recalls. “This song was born out of that conversation. It feels fitting to finally get to share it around the same time of year, and more so to sing it together.”

“You & I” is now available on all streaming platforms.

It’s also available on a limited edition 7’’ b/w a track Roger released in the fall called “Raining in LA.” Only ten copies left here.

Over the last couple of months, Roger Harvey has been releasing a series of singles, the first songs he wrote after finding his way back to his “central joy" of music. His version of Kacey Musgraves’ “Burn One With John Prine” was praised for how the young songwriter put his own spin on it, its b-side “Twice As High” landed on the No Depression Best Of October playlist on Spotify, and "Raining in LA" gave him a chance to open up via a candid personal essay penned for The Talkhouse.

"Twice As High"

"Burn One With John Prine"

"Raining in LA"

Roger Harvey is a name the world should know, twice over. His music is expansive and atmospheric, spiritual and welcoming, beautiful and soul-searching. It often feels like he time-traveled from the 1970s, drawing inspiration from artists like Willie Nelson, John Prine, & Neil Young yet his music has a uniquely of-the-now touch.

Born and raised in rural Pennsylvania just footsteps from Lake Erie, Roger has been making music for the majority of his life. It brought him out & has taken him places that he never dreamt he’d be able to reach. Carrying him through the low times, enhancing the high times, and introducing him to so much rare beauty that otherwise would have been left unknown. It’s this deeply-spiritual connection to song that’s found Roger incessantly trying to catch the fleeting moments that many music makers and fans are drawn to.
