When Ryland Heagy says “Hi” (more like h i i i i i i i i)—you pay attention. For good reason, too, because in “Emerald,” the shots are quick, the jokes are fast, and the riffs fly past you if you’re not honed in. In the third video from the duo, there’s everything from cameos to pop art to wig-snatching as we find out the answer to the titular question of the GEN 3 series: will Pat (drums) and Ryland (vox/guitar) finally GET 2 THE GIG?
To rewind, if you haven’t been keeping up with the video releases from Chatterbot Records over the past few weeks, first watch “Ruby”, then follow it up with “Sapphire,” and then come back to “Emerald.”Directed by Lex Atchison and premiered by The Alternative, we watch as the members paths finally cross and there’s hope that the show will go on.
That is, until they find imposters playing to a crowd of so-called Gami Gang members, portrayed by no other than their partners on their most recent EP (Holy Split), Commander Salamander. As Heagy and Doherty take their rightful place on stage, the song reaches a signature Origami Angel style breakdown full of dreamy riff action. But the crowd isn’t having it and with a few quarters each, the musicians part ways, as dejected as they were when they arrived.
Will Origami Angel be redeemed? Will Pat find his drum kit? Is the story over? I guess we may never know, but Gen 3 is finally out now via Chatterbot Records so what are you waiting for?! Click here to check it out!
