While you were running around looking for the perfect holiday gifts for your loved ones, Laura Stevenson was busy upstaging all of us by releasing two new songs for her mom. If you’ve ever heard Laura’s music before, then you know what a gift just pressing play can be; not to mention, these were the first new songs Laura's released since her last full-length album, 2015’s Cocksure.

‍
When I first heard β€œThe Mystic & The Master” and β€œMaker of Things,” I was pretty overwhelmed. All I knew was that they were written for Laura’s mom, to be released on her birthday of December 20. Just one listen through and you're transported; you're in the car, feeling the immense weight of whatever Laura experienced that day. But even then, there’s something about the perseverance it takes to be able to not only survive but to create something like this all these years later. Laura’s music has always been powerful but this? It's on an entirely different level.

All proceeds from these songs on Laura’s Bandcamp are going to Safe Horizon, a non-profit organization dedicated to moving survivors of abuse from crisis to confidence.
