Tied together with twinkle lights and surrounded by streamers, Future Teens is back with another single just a little less than a month out from the release of Breakup Season, coming September 6th. Here, co-vocalist Daniel Radin takes the lead, serenading every one of our broken hearts with an introspective ballad called “So What.” Directed by Michael Herrick, the accompanying video feels sentimental in its shadows as the members rotate instruments in a cycle between the frequent fade-to-blacks.

Like previous singles “Frequent Crier” and “Emotional Bachelor,” “So What” is adds to the tales of relationships gone wrong detailed on the album. Sonically, many are cataloguing the song as “farm emo”—and even though the name sounds silly, this track isn’t joking when it comes to the emotional, heartstring-tugging way Amy Hoffman’s voice echoes behind Radin’s in the build-up. With lyrics that make the song an “anthem of modern loneliness,” it’s a track that everyone who has been or is currently Going Through It™ to listen to.

If you find yourself down and out with no one to cry over this song with, consider joining other emos in Future Teens Frequent Crier Club, and get access to exclusive merch and content by preordering their album through Triple Crown Records. Breakup Season has set itself up to be an absolute treat of a sophomore album for the group that, back in 2014, didn’t want much more than to play a July 4th BBQ—and now they’re prepping to go across the country with fellow labelmates oso oso this fall.
