Obsessed with Friday Night Lights? Dan Campbell and Ace Enders are, too!
Clear Eyes Fanzine is the first of its kind, we think.
Featuring Dan Campbell (The Wonder Years, Aaron West) and Ace Enders (The Early November, I Can Make a Mess), Clear Eyes Fanzine is a collective formed solely out of love and appreciation for Friday Night Lights; the TV show, not the movie or the book, but those are great too.
“Ace and I have been talking about this project for years. The first time the two of us worked together on a record, we bonded over our love of FNL, often quoting it before vocal takes.” Campbell explains of the new 6-song EP out today, Season One, Episodes 1-6. “We’re both so excited that this thing finally, actually exists, and we hope fans of the show and fans of our music appreciate this little labor of love that we built.”
Season One, Episodes 1-6 is currently streaming exclusively on Bandcamp as a digital download or the band’s webstore in rare, limited-print merch bundles that include a physical lyric and photo zine, plus a t-shirt or sweatshirt.
Clear Eyes Fanzine practically begs for an eventual expansion to other songwriters, poets and artists similarly obsessed with a suspiciously high art, cult classic, teen drama about a high school football team in Dillon, Texas.
But for now, Campbell and Enders joining forces over this shared obsession has led to some seriously memorable moments on their debut EP: Season One, Episodes 1-6. It's like a musical fanzine, exploring the untold stories and emotional complexities of the show's first season through the creative influence of two musicians that love it.
