They say three’s a crowd—but how about three bands and their amps filling a smoky Oakland practice space to the brim? That’s most definitely a party, especially when it’s members of Mom Jeans. and Just Friends crashing the set of Save Face’s new video from their newest single “Bummer.” Released today as a part of an upcoming split with fellow rockstars Graduating Life, the track is anthemic in the way it expresses millennial existential dread because in today’s world… what the hell ARE you supposed to do?
‍

‍

‍
Save Face is sonically gifted with a sound that could fill any size room; and their touring record is a solid testament to that. Even with only 2018’s debut record Merci under their belts, they’ve garnered a prolific fan-base and signed with Epitaph Records. As a concept album about the post-rehab life of an addict, Merci is an attention-grabbing and enthralling introduction to the rock outfit’s power. But that doesn’t mean Save Face is generic in any way—in fact, it’s quite the opposite.

Tyler Povanda is the nucleus around which friends, former tourmates, and scene veterans revolve, making Save Face a completely freed and ever-changing entity with Povanda at the heart since 2012, triangulating Queen, Weezer, and Saves The Day into punkish blasts of wiry, intricate guitar-rock.

‍
On their upcoming tour, Save Face will perform with five members for the first time ever—including members of tourmates Just Friends, a collection that reinforces the always-shifting but always-there-for-you nature of Povanda’s community. Povanda says the shows will be as they always have been: monumental, intentional, each not quite the same as the last. In the same way Save Face records are carefully crafted, so too are their shows. Get to one if you can. You never know which Save Face you’ll get.
