Kill your darlings, anyone? Just over a week ago, Kory Gregory took a moment to do exactly that—by lighting a vinyl of his band Prince Daddy & The Hyena's last album on fire after a riot of a house show.

In that moment, mangled plastic never seemed so symbolic.
With the death of one hero (2016’s I Thought You Didn’t Even Like Leaving) comes the rise of another. Cosmic Thrill Seekers, the upcoming full-length album from Prince Daddy & The Hyena, is one of the most highly-anticipated punk records of the summer—and today we get to hear its final single before the full record drops June 28th: “C’mon & Smoke Me Up.”
A track cataloguing the foundation being ripped out from under our protagonist, “C’mon & Smoke Me Up” feels like the moment you realize you’ve missed a step at the bottom of a staircase. You’re falling, but not too far. Adrenaline packed, but under two minutes. It’s absolutely nothing less than a tongue-in-cheek Certified Ripper™.

This is the first track we’re hearing from the third and final act of the album, entitled The Roar/Random Passerby, which details an “excessively impulsive and destructive” cycle of Kory's mental health. It’s self-reflective and self-deprecating, and that’s a constant push-and-pull this album addresses. Like the songwriter himself states:
“This has the potential to get semi-dark, if you’re down with that.”
